When your booth is on sale — or the whole store runs a sale — every one of your items drops by the sale percent, except the ones you have marked FIRM. Those keep their full price at the register.
Use it for pieces you are not willing to move on: a signed first edition, something you paid a lot for, anything you would rather keep than sell at a discount.
How to mark an item FIRM
- Open the item from your Inventory list.
- Tap Edit Item.
- Tick the checkbox "Exclude from Sale Mode — never discount this item". That checkbox is the FIRM setting — it is the same thing under two names.
- Tap Save.
- Reprint the tag (see below).
To undo it, uncheck the same box and save again. You can change this at any time, including while a sale is already running.
Always reprint the tag after changing this
A FIRM item prints the word FIRM on its tag, so shoppers and cashiers can see the price is not negotiable without having to ask.
The tag does not update itself. Whenever you tick or untick that box on an item you have already tagged, print a new tag and put it on the piece. It matters in both directions:
- Marked FIRM, old tag has no badge — the piece looks like everything else on the shelf and gets discounted at the register during a sale, which is exactly what you were trying to avoid.
- Un-marked, old tag still says FIRM — worse. The cashier reads FIRM and refuses to apply the sale, so a customer who should have got the discount does not, and you may lose the sale over it.
The barcode never changes, so an old tag still scans correctly — it just carries the wrong information about whether the price can move.
Before you approve a sale
When the store sets up a sale on your booth, you are asked to approve it first. Approving means everything you own except your FIRM items sells at that discount, for the dates shown.
It is worth going through your inventory and marking anything you do not want discounted before you approve — then reprinting those tags. You can still mark more items FIRM afterwards; the setting applies as soon as you save, but the tag will be wrong until you reprint it.
