Printing labels — Chrome on Mac or Windows

Where the destination, paper size, margins, and scale settings live in Chrome's print dialog.

This is the print-dialog walkthrough for Chrome on a Mac or Windows PC. For how to start a print and choose a label format, see Print barcode labels for your items.

What happens when you print

Clicking Print N labels opens a new tab with your labels as a PDF in Chrome's viewer, and the print dialog opens on its own about half a second later. If it doesn't, press ⌘P (Mac) or Ctrl+P (Windows) in that tab, or click the print icon in the viewer's toolbar.

Settings to check

  1. Destination — your label printer (Rollo X1040, DYMO LabelWriter, Brother), or your regular printer for Avery and cardstock formats.
  2. Open More settings.
  3. Paper size — match the format you chose: 2x1 for Rollo, 30334 or 30336 for DYMO, Letter for sheet formats.
  4. Margins — None, so the tag reaches the edges of the label.
  5. Scale — Default (that's 100%). Never "Fit to page".
  6. Click Print.

Chrome remembers the last settings per printer, so after one good print it's usually just Print.

Troubleshooting

Label prints blank. The viewer hadn't finished rendering when the dialog opened. Cancel and press ⌘P / Ctrl+P again.

Only part of the label prints, or it's off-center. Paper size or margins are wrong — re-check steps 3 and 4.

Barcode won't scan. Scale must be Default / 100%.
