Printing labels — Vinty app on Android

One-time Mopria setup so an Android phone can print 2×1 tags to a Rollo, then the print steps in the Vinty dealer app.

This is the walkthrough for the Vinty dealer app on Android. If you print from Chrome on your phone instead, see Printing labels — Chrome on Android (the same one-time setup applies).

Your phone must be on the same Wi-Fi network as the label printer.

One-time setup: Mopria Print Service

Android's built-in print service only knows a short list of standard paper sizes (Letter, 4×6, and so on) and hides everything else. Out of the box it offers only 4×6 for the Rollo, even though the printer itself supports 2×1. The fix is the free Mopria Print Service, which lets you add the size yourself. You only do this once.

  1. Install Mopria Print Service from the Play Store: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mopria.printplugin

  2. Open the Mopria app. Your Rollo appears under Wi-Fi. (If it doesn't, wait a few seconds, or tap + and enter the printer's IP address — hold the Wi-Fi button on the Rollo to print it out.)

  3. Tap the ⓘ next to Rollo X1040.

  4. Under Media Ready, tap Custom Media Size. Enter Width 2, Height 1, Units inches, and tap Save.

  5. Go to your phone's Settings → Connected devices → Printing (on Samsung: Settings → Connected devices → More connection settings → Printing). Make sure Mopria Print Service is on. If Default Print Service or Samsung Print Service Plugin is also on, turn those off so the Rollo only shows up once.

  6. Force-close the Vinty app and open it again.

Printing

  1. Open the Inventory tab and tick the items you want to tag. Or open an item and tap Print label.
  2. Tap Print N labels. Set the copies for each item if you need more than one.
  3. In the Android print dialog, choose Rollo X1040 as the printer.
  4. Under Paper size, pick Custom (2×1 in), and set Orientation to Landscape. The app asks for this size, but if the dialog comes up as 4×6 / Portrait, set it here.
  5. Tap the print button.

Your label format comes from Settings (gear) → Default label size in the app, or the store default if you haven't picked one.

Troubleshooting

Paper size only offers 4×6. Mopria isn't the active print service, or the custom size wasn't saved. Re-check steps 4 and 5 above, then force-close and reopen Vinty.

The Rollo isn't listed. It's on a different Wi-Fi network than your phone, or it's asleep — press the Rollo's button to wake it.

Only part of the label prints. The label size in the app's Settings doesn't match the roll in the printer.
